¨ Dr. U. Kamachi Mudali has been elected as “ Fellow of the Indian Institute of Metals” for the year 2006

 

2005

 

¨ Dr. Baldev Raj  has been conferred with prestigious 14th Nayudamma Memorial Award, instituted by Dr. Y. Nayudamma Memorial Trust, Tenali, Andhra Pradesh for the year 2005 for his significant contributions in the area of Fast Reactor Science and Technology.

¨ Dr. U. Kamachi Mudali received the “Distinguished Alumini Award” for 2005 from PSG Institutions, Coimbatore

¨  Dr. S. Venugopal has been elected as a Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE).

¨  Indian Chemical Institute (ICI), India, IIChE-NOCIL Award for excellence in Design or Development of Process and equipment for the year 2005 has been awarded to Dr. Baldev Raj, Shri R.Natarajan, Dr. S.B.Koganti, Shri. M.Venkataraman, Shri. V.Sundararaman and Shri. A.Ravishankar of Reprocessing Group (RpG) for their work in "Fuel Reprocessing of Unique Plutonium based Carbide Fuel".

¨ Dr. U. Kamachi Mudali, Corrosion Science & Technology Division (CSTD) has been awarded the prestigious Metallurgist of the year award for 2005 by Ministry of Steels & Mines

¨ Dr. Baldev Raj has also been awarded the prestigious Jaeger Lecture Award by the International Institute of Welding. The award was given on February 16, 2005 by the President, International Institute of Welding during the International Welding Congress at Mumbai. Dr. Baldev Raj is the first Indian to receive this award in recognition of his research as well as the impact of his contribution in the area of Welding Science & Technology.

¨ The paper entitled "Development of activated Flux for Tungsten Inert Gas Welding of 304L(N) Austenitic Stainless Steel" by V. Ramasubbu, S.K. Albert, A.K. Bhaduri and S.K. Ray was awarded the H.D. Govindaraj Memorial Award for the Best Paper on Research & Development (IIW-IC-2005).

¨ The paper entitled "High Temperature Performance of Steam Generator Transition Joints between modified 9Cr-1Mo Steel and Alloy 800" by M. Sireesha (IIT-M), S. Sundaresan (IIT-M) and S.K. Albert was awarded the KCP Award for the First Best paper on Fabrication (IIW-IC-2005).

2004

 

¨  Dr. Baldev Raj has been awarded the prestigious Indian Nuclear Society (INS) Award for the year 2004. He has been elected President of Indian Institute of Metals. He has also been elected Fellow of The Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi. He has been conferred with a honorary doctorate by Sathyabama University, Chennai for his contributions in the field of Science & Technology of Fast Reactors.

¨  Dr. U. Kamachi Mudali, Corrosion Science & Technology Division (CSTD) was awarded the INS Medal for the year 2004.  He has also been awarded the Homi Bhabha Science & Technology Award for the year 2004.

¨  Dr. Baldev Raj has been awarded the Lifetime achievement award for the year 2004 by the Indian Welding Society for his contributions to the field of Welding.

¨ Shri Anish Kumar, Division of Post-irradiation Examination and Non-destructive testing (DPEND), has been selected for Shri Ram Arora International Award for the year 2004 from The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS), USA.

¨ Dr. S.K. Ray, MTD has been elected as a Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) from January 2004.

¨ Dr. M. Vijayalakshmi, Materials Characterization Group has been conferred with Materials Research Society of India (MRSI) Medal for the year 2004.

¨ Dr. K. Bhanu Sankara Rao, Mechanical Metallurgy Division selected to receive G.D. Birla Gold Medal of The Indian Institute of Metals for the year 2004.

¨ Shri Anish Kumar, Non-Destructive Evaluation Division chosen for the "Young Metallurgist of the Year" award for the year 2004 by Ministry of Steel, Government of India.

¨ "Detection and Quantification of sensitisation and Intergranular corrosion in Austentic Stainless steels by Eddy Current testing technique" by R. Amirthalingam, H. Shaikh, N. Sivabharasi, B. Sasi, T. Anita. B.P.C. Rao, T. Jayakumar and H.S. Khatak won the "Best paper Award" at the Twelfth National Congress on Corrosion Control organised by the National Corrosion Council of India at Vishakapatnam during September 20-22, 2004.

¨ Dr. B.P.C. Rao, Non-destructive Evaluation Division, has been awarded National NDT Award in the R&D category for the year 2004 by ISNT.

¨ Corrosion Science & Technology Division (CSTD) had been conferred with the prestigious NIIS Award for a National Laboratory Award by NACE International Indian Section (NIIS) for the year 2004.

¨  Dr. U. Kamachi Mudali has been a Member of the International Editorial Board of Corrosion Reviews, Journal of Surface Engineering, Materials and Manufacturing Process Journal since 2003.

¨ During the National Welding Seminar (NWS-2003), held at Baroda in December 2003, the paper entitled "Artificial Neural Network Modelling of Solidification Mode and Ferric Content in Austenitic Stainless Steel Welds" authored by M. Vasudevan, A.K. Bhaduri, Baldev Raj and E. Prasad Rao of IIT, Chennai received the H.D. Govindaraj Memorial Award for the Best Paper on Research & Development and the paper entitled "Development of Repair Welding Procedure for Cracked 5th Stage Blades of Low pressure Steam Turbine" authored by C.R. Das, S .K. Albert, A.K. Bhaduri, G. Srinivasan and V. Ramasubbu received the Eutectic Reclamation Award for the Best Paper on Repair & Reclamation Welding .

¨ The paper entitled "Characterization of Microstructure in 9% Chromium Ferritic Steel using Ultrasonoc Measurements" by Shri Anish Kumar, Dr. B.K. Choudhary, Dr. K. Laha, Dr. T. Jayakumar, Dr. K. Bhanu Sankara Rao and Dr. Baldev Raj published in Transactions of The Indian Institute of Metals selected as the Best Technical Paper for the year 2003. The principal author Shri Anish Kumar has been awarded SAIL GOLD MEDAL and co-authors have been awarded Certificate of Merit by The Indian Institute of Metals.

¨ Dr. A.K. Bhaduri, Materials Technology Division (MTD) was awarded Homi Bhabha Science & Technology Award for the year 2002. He has been awarded Indian Nuclear Society (INS) Gold Medal for the year 2002. He has also received the prestigious National Metallurgist Day (NMD) Award -2002. Dr. Bhaduri has also been elected as a Fellow of Indian Institute of Metals (IIM).

¨ Dr. K. Bhanu Sankara Rao, Mechanical Metallurgy Division has been elected as a Fellow of Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore. He has also become the Chief Editor, Transactions of the Indian Institute of Metals.

¨ Dr. B.P.C. Rao, DPEND has been awarded Indian Nuclear Society (INS) Gold medal award for the year 2002.

¨ Shri Anish Kumar, DPEND has also been selected for the Young achiever Award (2000 - 2004) by NDT research contributions.

¨ Dr. U. Kamachi Mudali, CSTD, has received the National Corrosion Awareness ONGC Award for the year 2003. He has also been selected as a member of International Editorial Board for International Journals "Corrosion Reviews", Surface Engineering" and Materials and Manufacturing Process".
